Don't You Forget About Me

I know... I know. I haven't really been around much these past 10 days. It's a little of everything; the heat, my annual meeting at work is over, Larry is out of town so I'm getting to go to bed at 8:30. It was nice to a take a little break.

I'm sorry to say though...it's going to get worse.

My celebration from June becomes a reality this weekend. On Sunday, grad school begins. Luckily, it starts with a week-long leadership residency that takes place four hours outside of DC in the Shenandoah mountains. The week focuses on our skills, weakness, goals and challenges. The deliverable is 15-page paper taking about yourself. HA! How tough will that be? I can write about me for days.

The sick part is that the following week, we begin with statistics and organization behavior. And life as I know it, is done for the next two years.

What does that mean for you? Well, not a lot unless you want to help with the student loans. But it does mean I'm going have to scale back on a lot of things.

Since I feel this blog keeps me grounded, it's not going on hold, but pretty much everything else is. I'm going to have to cut back on reading a lot of your posts. Most likely, I'll be skimming through them, but if I really should know something HUGE, email me.

I'm going to have drastically reduce my commenting as well. I hate that, but if it's a choice of reading all or reading half and commenting, I'd rather skim to briefly keep track of your lives.

I will try to post now and then to keep you informed of what is happening here, but again, if you comment, I probably won't be able to respond back much.

In a way, I will miss the daily interactions, but honestly, 21 months will fly...for all of us.

Sounds good. I've cut back on my posting myself, so I understand- time is valuable.

Enjoy your retreat.

Now that f-ing song is stuck in my head. Thanks!! Good luck with grad school. I'm still working on mine, but you'll be amazed at how different it is from your years in college. First, you won't have Dave as a distraction (he's mine now). Second, it seems to come a bit easier. And third, if you were afraid to speak up in under-grad classes, you won't now. Have fun!

Wow- MBA. Good luck!

Yeah, that would be a good reason to cut back on the blog reads.

My wife starts her MBA program in 2 weeks - that should be fun.

Good luck! Play nice with the other kids!

Oh...and I'd help out with the student loans...but I'm still paying for my own!

believe me, i understand. and i am not even in grad school. Just going full time for my undergraduates (now my 2nd undergrad) and working and taking care of the kiddo was enough to keep me out of the blogging loop all this time. Good luck!!

MBA, blah, blah, blah. That's great, and we know that you're all busy and stuff, but that's not going to stop us from coming over and enforcing drink breaks during your study hall hours. I'll be having martinis; you can send your drink orders in via post-it notes stuck to 3B's forehead as he shuttles back and forth between your cell and us--we'll be out on the deck with Larry, having a lovely time. And don't think that you get to keep Larry to yoruself for two years just because you're going to be sequestered.

Besides, you really need to see 3B almost walk. There's nothing quite like it. Except crawling.

But seriously, congrats on the program, we understand all about the schedule of a grad student, and I take my martinis dry, up, clean, olives. See you on the deck.

That's too bad because I just started reading you but I suppose I can do the whole archives thing, right?

21 months will most certainly fly and that's why I'm here. My 24 months of graduate school just ended. Good on you for this new endeavor for yourself and your family.

Best of luck!

Totally understandable! Especially about the commenting, it takes a lot of time and I had to cut back for quite a while. Like, I've been over here at least five times to comment on your cartoon/superhero crush and I've gotten distracted by other things every time. (It's Spike from Cowboy Bebop, btw.)

Good luck in school!

I will help you out with your loans if you REALLY need it. Which we both know will not happen.

Best of luck with the studying!

From my MBA, things were crazy at first. But, you'll have time for the blog. You'll settle in to a groove and be back to typing away in no time.

Oh, and here's a little tip. For every project you have that doesn't require you to do an existing company - make one up, in an industry that you like/love, and when you're all said and done, you'll have done enough research to start your own company in that field.

It's a thought.
